Responsible for the assessment, evaluation, and therapeutic interventions for patients presenting to South Shore Hospital Emergency Services with actual or perceived emergencies. The Emergency Services Staff Physician will also participate as a member of the Emergency Care Team, engaging in Emergency Services and hospital activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Interacts collegially with the Emergency Care Team.
Involves patients and families in explanations of diagnoses, care plans, and outcomes.
Facilitates family presence and ensures discharge plans are understood.
Maintains confidentiality of patient and hospital information.
Collaborates with other departments to facilitate patient care and flow.
Participates in medical staff committees and task forces.
Contributes to education and training of emergency staff, including paramedics.
Engages in quality improvement programs and outcomes projects.
Implements approved patient outcome plans.
Complies with point-of-care testing requirements.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education: Medical School Graduate; Graduate of an accredited Emergency Residency Medicine Program.
Required Licenses/Registrations: MD - Physicians/Hospitalist
Additional Knowledge and Abilities: Proficiency in emergency medical care for all ages, strong team membership, successful SSH credentialing.
License/Registration/Certification: Physician/Hospitalist - Board of Registration in Medicine (Massachusetts)
