The Sanitation Associate is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and food-safe production environment in a pastry manufacturing facility. This role ensures that all equipment, tools, and work areas meet company standards and regulatory requirements for food safety, sanitation, and quality. The Sanitation Associate plays a critical role in preventing contamination and supporting efficient pastry production.
Clean and sanitize production equipment, utensils, and machinery used in pastry production
Disassemble and reassemble equipment as required for proper cleaning
Clean floors, walls, drains, ceilings, and other facility areas according to sanitation schedules
Follow established Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and safety guidelines
Use cleaning chemicals and sanitation tools safely and correctly
Dispose of waste and recyclables according to company and regulatory standards
Complete sanitation logs, checklists, and documentation accurately
Identify and report equipment damage, maintenance needs, or food safety concerns
Support pest prevention and allergen control programs
Work closely with production, quality assurance, and maintenance teams
Maintain compliance with FDA, USDA (if applicable), OSHA, and local health regulations
Previous sanitation or food manufacturing experience preferred (bakery or pastry experience a plus)
Knowledge of food safety, GMPs, and sanitation practices is an asset
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English (or primary facility language)
Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to [e.g., 50 lbs] for extended periods
Ability to work in a production environment with varying temperatures
Comfortable working around food production equipment, cleaning chemicals, and water
Food manufacturing environment with exposure to flour, sugar, dairy, and other allergens
Wet and slippery surfaces may be present
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required
