Base Pay Range $60,000.00/yr - $70,000.00/yr A wholesale food company in Chicago is looking to add a Food Safety Manager/SQF Practitioner to their team. Key Responsibilities System development and maintenance: Design, implement, and maintain the company's SQF program and all related documentation, procedures, and forms. Internal audits: Conduct regular internal audits (e.g., monthly GMP, HACCP, and SQF audits) to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement. Training: Educate and train employees on SQF procedures, regulations, and the importance of food safety and quality. Audit preparation: Prepare the facility and staff for external SQF and GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) audits. Conduct External Audit: Meet yearly with SQF Auditors and ensure renewal of certification. Corrective and preventive actions (CAPA): Manage the follow-up on non-conformities related to food safety and quality, ensuring that corrective actions are implemented and effective. Regulatory compliance: Ensure the food safety system meets all relevant regulatory standards and requirements. Collaboration: Work closely with production, quality assurance, and management teams to resolve issues and drive a culture of continuous improvement in food safety. Record keeping: Ensure all SQF-related records and documents are properly maintained and organized in a controlled environment. Essential Skills and Qualifications Strong knowledge of food safety, food microbiology, HACCP principles, GMP, and sanitation practices. Successful completion of a HACCP training course. Understanding of the SQF Food Safety Code. Experience with food safety and quality management systems. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
