Job Purpose

As a Mechanic B , you will play a vital role in our operations. Your expertise will not only enhance our product knowledge but also set the standard for quality within the branch. You will mentor C-level mechanics and ensure our fleet is always ready for rental through effective preventative and corrective maintenance.

What You Will Do...

• Perform regular preventative maintenance on all Herc-owned fleet equipment at your branch.
• Operate and test equipment to meet Herc Rentals' quality and efficiency standards.
• Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on fleet equipment and trucks with minimal supervision.
• Diagnose issues in internal combustion engines, DC electrical systems, propane systems, hydraulics, and fuel systems.
• Execute major repairs using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and measuring instruments.
• Carry out oil changes, lubrication, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements, and more.
• Utilize warranty repairs timeframes to save and mark parts, ensuring accuracy on work orders.
• Enter work orders and manage part ordering through our fleet management system.
• Recondition and replace various parts of heavy equipment.
• Diagnose significant wear or tear on equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Produce timely and detailed service reports and repair logs.
• Assist in training C-level mechanics while taking direction from the shop lead.
• Follow all company procedures and protocols.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 2 years of experience in heavy equipment repair.
• Ownership of a sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools for repairs and services.
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.

Skills

• Ability to understand detailed technical schematics, owner manuals, and product warning labels.
• Experience operating and testing equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, and generators.
• Computer skills for entering information into systems.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to drive and operate multiple types of vehicles and equipment.
• Attention to detail and time management skills.

Pay Range: $26 - $32
