Residential Real Estate Appraiser / Assessor
We are seeking an experienced Residential Real Estate Appraiser / Assessor for a full-time, in-office position . This role is ideal for a professional with a strong background in Nassau and Suffolk County real estate, particularly in municipal-related appraisal and assessment work. We have been working with municipalities for over 30 years providing assessment and defense in small claims proceedings. We have a well-seasoned group of professionals that you will work with as a team.
Key Responsibilities:
· Prepare and defend valuations in small claims assessment review proceedings on behalf of municipalities.
· Assist in the preparation and maintenance of assessment rolls for multiple municipalities.
· Research and analyze local market data, comparable sales, and property records to ensure accurate valuations.
· Review Computer generated Comparative Market Analysis (CMA) for reasonableness.
· Make changes to CMA when necessary to provide an accurate estimate of market value.
· Conference cases on behalf of the municipality in an effort to dispose of pending small claims cases.
· Collaborate with municipal officials, attorneys, and staff to resolve assessment and valuation issues.
Qualifications:
· Prior appraisal or assessment experience specifically within Nassau and Suffolk Counties, NY is required.
· Knowledge of municipal assessment procedures and local market trends.
· Strong analytical, research, and communication skills.
· Ability to handle multiple assignments and meet strict deadlines.
· NYS certification or license as a real estate appraiser/assessor preferred.
