Role and Responsibilities

The Senior Full Stack Java/AI Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating intelligent services into complex enterprise applications. This includes leveraging cloud-native services in AWS, consuming or embedding AI/ML models, and delivering scalable, resilient full-stack solutions that power modern digital platforms for public sector programs such as Medicaid, SNAP, TANF, or Child Support

  • The ideal candidate is fluent in Java frameworks, experienced in cloud deployments, and knowledgeable in how to incorporate AI-based APIs and models into backend services and user-facing applications.

  • Design, develop, and implement complex full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, and modern front-end frameworks (e.g., Angular).

  • Develop and integrate AI/ML services (e.g., NLP, recommendation, classification) into application workflows via REST or event-driven interfaces.

  • Build and consume APIs for AI services hosted in AWS SageMaker, containerized models (ECS/Fargate), or 3rd-party intelligent services.

  • Deploy and manage microservices in AWS environments using Lambda, API Gateway, EC2, S3, CloudFormation, ECS, and Aurora PostgreSQL.

  • Translate AI/ML outputs into intuitive, explainable interfaces or backend decision engines supporting business logic.

  • Integrate components using REST, SOAP, EJB, and secure web services standards.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including AI/ML engineers, DevOps, UX, and product stakeholders.

  • Apply secure coding practices, conduct code reviews, and contribute to test-driven development pipelines.

  • Develop reusable components, SDKs, or utilities that streamline AI feature adoption across systems.

Minimum Qualification

  • This position requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science, information systems, engineering, business, or a related scientific or technical discipline; or three (3) years of equivalent experience in a related field. (Note: A Master’s degree is preferred.)

  • The proposed candidate must have at least five (5) years of experience in IT systems analysis and programming.

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in software development or maintenance.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in IT systems analysis and enterprise programming.

  • Eight (8+) years in Java/J2EE development, with deep experience using Spring Boot, Hibernate, JPA, and RESTful APIs.

  • Three (3+) years of experience working with AWS cloud services, including Lambda, S3, RDS/Aurora, API Gateway, IAM, and CloudWatch.

  • Two (2+) years of experience integrating or consuming AI/ML services, including AWS SageMaker, pre-trained models (e.g., NLP, classification), or intelligent APIs.

  • Proficiency in Python or scripting languages for handling data flows and ML model interfacing is a strong plus.

  • Experience developing UI components in Angular 12+, JavaScript, TypeScript, and JSON-based dynamic rendering.

  • Knowledge of Git, Jenkins, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Familiarity with cloud-native DevOps, containerization, and infrastructure as code (Terraform or AWS CDK) preferred.

  • Experience in Health & Human Services programs (e.g., IES, Child Support, Medicaid) is preferred.

  • Ability to design for accessibility (508 compliance) and secure data processing in regulated systems.

  • Understanding of concurrency, application performance tuning, and scalable web service architecture.

Preferred Qualifications

  • The proposed candidate must have at least eight (8) years of programming experience in software development or maintenance.
