Senior Staff Research Scientist IX: Computational Chemist

Hexagon Lavish is an antiartificial scientific R&D startup based in Atlanta, Georgia, specializing in materials characterization and information retrieval technique development and implementation. The company's introductory product, PIR: Premier Information Retrieval , is software and service that enhances computer vision and image processing.

Hexagon Lavish is seeking a Computational Chemist to expand computational capabilities involving reaction dynamics, molecular dynamics, and molecular orbital theory. The candidate should be able to turn impractical ideas into practical solutions.

The Computational Chemist will collaborate with the Materials Scientist on materials characterization and informational interpretation related to " a material's emergence " or "object tagging".

The position reports directly to the Chief Science Officer.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Participate in idea generation using cheminformatics tools
2. Generate predictive models for physical properties
3. Assist in project planning and execution
4. Create and manage databases
5. Characterize solid materials through various measurements
6. Explore mechanics of light-sensitive and insensitive materials
7. Manipulate organic/inorganic structures
8. Apply numerical approximations for two-particle solutions
9. Engage in Extended Huckel Theory
10. Model molecular behavior in specific objects using simulations and camera applications
11. Design, code, test, debug, document, and maintain software
12. Incorporate recent computing and mathematical innovations
13. Apply custom research software to complex problems
14. Follow software development guidelines
15. Maintain ethical standards and values
16. Record, analyze, interpret, and report results
17. Apply advanced scientific principles in development

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

• Experience developing numerical environmental prediction codes in HPC environments
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Ph.D. with 4 years of industrial experience in relevant disciplines
• Experience collaborating with research facilities and academic organizations
• Effective communicator of technical details and results
• Ability to prepare and deliver research reports and presentations
• Knowledge of safety practices
