About the Spa Director Position The Spa Director holds the vision of the spa and guides it in exciting, profitable directions with a well-curated menu of services and retail products, a well-scheduled and well-functioning team, and strong relationships with clients. The Director ensures long- and short-term profitability of the department through strong analytical and leadership skills. Qualifications, Skills, and Personality The Spa Director possesses a high level of maturity and professional and personal fortitude, balancing empathy for all team members with accountability. A high level of attention to detail is required across responsibilities, ensuring the facility is spotless, products are used wisely, clients feel seen and heard, team members are valued and empowered, and tasks are completed timely. Self-motivation and leadership skills are essential, along with grace under pressure. Must be fit enough to run up and down stairs, curious and hungry for knowledge, and not afraid of hard work and occasional odd hours. Core Responsibilities Manage the P&L for a profitable department. Make recommendations for pricing, budget, compensation, and KPIs. Recruit, develop, and retain a strong team. Create multimedia training materials and systems to facilitate training and accountability. Create effective marketing and PR programs in conjunction with the hotel. Develop and update the treatment menu to stay current and profitable. Select retail and backbar products, tools, equipment, and supplies. Track inventory and profitability. Ensure legal and licensing requirements are met in all areas. Develop and model warm, professional relationships with guests using anticipatory service. Perform other duties as needed, including overseeing maintenance, booking reservations, performing front office duties, and ordering products. Requirements: Prefer 2-3 years as a Spa Director in a 4-5 star property, but will consider an Assistant Director or Manager with a strong track record and readiness for the next move. Related fields will be considered, especially with deep spa and wellness knowledge. Proven ability to recruit and build a team. Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred. Exceptional written and spoken English communication skills. Proven ability to learn and teach new software. Ability to occasionally lift 25 pounds and move quickly through the facility as needed.
