Job Description

Adelphi is seeking a qualified Teacher to provide substitute classroom instruction and developmental support for children ages 3–5 at a school district in Long Beach, California. The ideal candidate will create a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment, implement lesson plans aligned with Head Start Performance Standards, and promote the physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development of each child.

Requirements:

• Minimum 24 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units.
• California Child Development Teacher Permit.
• Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certifications.
• Mandated Reporter and Integrated Germ Management certifications.
• Current documentation of TB test, measles, pertussis, COVID-19, and influenza immunizations.
• Must pass CA DOJ and FBI background check and fingerprint clearance prior to assignment.

Responsibilities:

• Provide daily classroom instruction aligned with Head Start curriculum and district policies.
• Implement lesson plans and guide activities that support cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth.
• Maintain a safe, healthy, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Conduct developmental observations and assessments to inform instruction.
• Collaborate with site administrators, assistant teachers, and families to support child development goals.
• Ensure adherence to Head Start and Educare Program Performance Standards.
• Maintain accurate classroom and student records.
• Participate in training, safety drills, and continuous professional development.
• Any other duties as assigned.
