Position Overview

The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse will provide exceptional care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will have experience in trauma and pediatrics, as well as the ability to monitor ventilators and support patients through their recovery.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor patients' vital signs and recovery post-anesthesia.


• Provide quality care in a fast-paced environment.


• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans.


• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.


• Perform procedures such as lab draws and catheterizations.


• Transport patients safely as needed.

Unit Specifics

• Scrub Color: Surgical green or navy


• Number of Beds: 40


• Patient Ratios: 1:2


• Staffing Description: Unit secretaries and tech availability; 4 PCTs scheduled each day.


• Documentation System: Cerner

Requirements

• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.


• NIH Stroke Scale experience.


• Advanced skills in ventilator monitoring.


• Trauma and pediatric experience is preferred.

Scheduling

We operate on a 6-week scheduling basis with 3 call shifts required within that time frame. Floating within peri-anesthesia areas (Endoscopy/PreOp/Phase II) may be required.
